  • Adjust the focus position:

    Focus position deviation can cause uneven energy distribution, resulting in burrs. It is necessary to ensure that the laser beam focus is correctly aligned with the workpiece. Adjust the focal length of the equipment to find the focus position that is most suitable for the current cutting material and thickness.

  • Check and adjust the laser power:

    If the laser output power is insufficient, the cutting process may be incomplete, resulting in burrs. Confirm that the laser power is at the required level, check the status of the laser tube, and perform maintenance or adjust the laser power parameters as necessary to ensure that there is sufficient energy to complete the cutting.

  • Optimize cutting speed:

    Slow cutting speeds can cause excessive heat buildup, resulting in additional slag and burrs. Adjust the cutting speed to the recommended range based on the material type and thickness to achieve clean cutting edges.

  • Improving the purity of auxiliary gases and optimizing parameters: 

    The purity, pressure, and flow rate of auxiliary gases significantly impact cutting performance. High-purity auxiliary gases should be used, and gas pressure and flow rate should be appropriately set to ensure that gases can effectively remove molten slag during the cutting process. For example, when cutting carbon steel with oxygen, as the thickness of the thin plate increases from 1 mm to 5 mm, the cutting pressure range decreases sequentially to 0.1–0.3 MPa, 0.1–0.2 MPa, 0.08–0.16 MPa, 0.08–0.12 MPa, and 0.06–0.12 MPa.

  • Optimize cutting process: 

    Improve piercing methods. For example, when cutting thin plates, use the “pre-cutting” method, which involves first cutting a small notch at the edge of the material and then slowly advancing to the target position. Optimize cutting path planning to avoid direct turns at sharp corners. Use curved transition paths to reduce energy accumulation at corners. For slightly thicker thin plates, use a layered cutting method.

  • Ensure material quality: 

    Before cutting, ensure that the material surface is clean and free of oil stains, oxide scale, etc., to avoid burrs caused by uneven local heating. At the same time, choose materials with high flatness and low impurity content as much as possible.
